Welcome to Hospitality Books

 Maureen and Jeff Puckeridge started Hospitality Books in 1987.We are a small family company and pride ourselves on personalised service and prompt delivery. The last few years have seen rapid change with increased demand for quality food, wine and better levels of service. At the front of this development has been the emergence of a distinctively "Australian way" of service.

In late 1987, Peter Howard and Jeffery Puckeridge published the first ever handbook for Australian waiters, The Professional Waiter. The Professional Bar Attendant followed the next year. The books, written over a two-year period, were based on national research on the need and demand for F&B texts to be written for Australian conditions. The Professional Waiter and The Professional Bar Attendant (now in their fourth editions) have been used by a range of TAFE and private colleges in, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia since the first editions in1987.

Now in it's fifth edition The Australian Wine Guide was first published in 1999 and is written not only for budding hospitality students, but also for wine enthusiasts. The book makes a great gift for the general wine enthusiast and is an ideal incentive for liquor and cellar door outlets seeking customer loyalty.

Hospitality Core Units was first published in 2001 and has been very well received in all sectors and nation wide by secondary schools offering hospitality courses. A second edition was published in June 2004 and the full colour third edition published in 2010. A CD Rom has been developed to assist teachers and trainers in the holistic delivery of units. The CD includes lesson plans; student exercises, case studies and activities; assessment events including tests and model answers. 

Current Project

Jeff Puckeridge is collaborating with Brigitte Collins to combine the best of the Professional Waiter and Bar Attendant books into a new book called Food and Beverage Service.

Brigitte works as a head teacher in Food and Beverage and Events at the prestigious Ryde College. She has been involved with World Skills Australia since 1997 and is Chief Expert (Judge) of the "Olympic Games" for student waiters, which is staged every two years at a different international location. Brigitte has provided training and advice to Brazil (Senac) and Singapore(ITE) for International standards in Restaurant Service on behalf of World Skills Australia.
